The City of Glendale’s Safe Routes to School Program participated in the Fire Department Service Day Event which was held on May 14 where children and parents had an opportunity to learn pedestrian, bicycle, helmet and traffic safety. Both children and adults were reminded of the rules of the road to be safer while walking, riding and rolling! Traffic safety instructors shared basic street safety tips including the health benefits of walking and biking which also helps reduce road congestion and improves air quality. Kids showed their Pedal Power by making smoothies on a Blender Bike and played games that reinforced safety behaviors. Adults completed Pedestrian Safety Surveys in the ongoing effort by the City of Glendale to help our community be safe drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists.
