The Glendale City Council asked the Be Street Smart Glendale project team to propose innovative solutions to address the pedestrian safety challenges we face in the City. Based on best practices research and analysis completed as part of the Glendale Citywide Pedestrian Plan, Part 1: Taking Stock report, six innovations were identified and discussed at the February 23 meeting of our Pedestrian Safety Advisory Committee. These ideas were presented to the committee by Jennifer Wieland of Nelson\Nygaard and were later discussed in detail by the members of the committee.
The six innovations we considered were:
- Vision Zero
- “20 is Plenty”
- Safe Streets for Seniors
- No Right on Red Downtown
- Leading Pedestrian Intervals
- Data-Driven Prioritization Approach to Allocate Funding.
